Com Truise — Hyperlips

Ever wanted to sever all earthly ties and ship off to an alternate 80s-verse where flying cars and sentient arcade machines run rampant? Com Truise has you covered. Along with Dylan Ettinger, James Ferraro, and others, Truise (né Seth Haley) occupies a growing niche of artists blending retro synth-pop with visions of a Total Recall-style sci-fi landscape. While we got a taste of Haley’s lofty ambitions on last year’s stellar Cyanide Sisters, Galactic Melt blows them up full scale, making for the best virtual vacation you could ask for. Album cut “Hyperlips” whirrs to life with the sound of warbled, droid-like vocals, morphing from a burbling soundscape into a groove-steeped dance jam. Synths fire like rayguns, drumbeats rain from the cosmos, and the track soon fades into the neon-lit ether.
